Co-founders Action 2030’s co-founders, Dr. Joshua Muldavin and Dr. Alex Westlake, have between them 40 years of experience assessing China’s development policies, with particular strengths in rural development, energy, and environment. Building upon this experience through engagement with diverse networks of policy-oriented thinkers and actors, the institute will provide innovative forums for exploring new policy ideas, perspectives, and solutions. Dr. Joshua Muldavin is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Action 2030 Institute, while Dr. Alex Westlake chairs the Advisory Committee. Team Members Julie M. Klinger is a Research Associate for the Action 2030 Institute. She is involved in the research work in the Eastern Himalayas of China as well as the initiatives under the ALARODA policy and research area. A speaker of five languages, she is interested in the politics of the international development discourse and how matters of (mis)translation are played out on the land and populations of far-flung locales. Julie is a graduate student in Geography at the University of California-Berkeley. Contact Julie at . Dr. Dale Jiajun Wen is a Senior Scientist writing and reporting for the Action2030 Institute. She has published in English, Chinese, German and Spanish on issues including China and globalization, development, and international policy. She was a coordinating lead author for ESAP region (East and south Asia and pacific islands) of the UN report International Assessment of Agriculture Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development. Coming from an ethnic minority group in China, she is interested in rural development, education and ecology. Dale is a graduate of both the University of Science and Technology of China and the California Institute of Technology. Contact Dale at . James George is the Communications Director and Policy Analyst for the Action 2030 Institute. He researches and reports on climate change, maintains the Action 2030 website, and manages the creation of multimedia presentations. James is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a major in international development of agriculture and health. Contact James at . Qiuwan Zhao is a Research Assistant for the Action 2030 Institute. She is involved in the research work of the Eastern Himalayas of China Project for the Muldavin Research Group. Qiuwan is an M.A. candidate at University of San Diego, majoring in Peace and Justice Studies.
